FHE (Family, Holidays, and the Elderly)

Since not many people commented on my U fan post (although I can't imagine why my BYU loving family would not want to comment), I thought I would add a new post.

FAMILY AND HOLIDAYS: Here are a few pictures of the family over Thanksgiving. I know that some are repeats from B and Em's site but they are just so cute of Jonah and Elora.

Oakley loves any food from any relative that is willing to feed her. She had plenty of treats on Thanksgiving.

My dad, brother, and husband all relaxing in the hot tub at the cabin the morning after Thanksgiving. It's a man tub. Jonah is in the next picture looking out of the window at them.

My very cute nephew Jonah - I was trying to be a fun aunt so he will remember me. He now calls me "katie" (his other aunt).

My precious niece Elora and her cute dad. Brov sure has some cute kids.

ELDERLY: The elderly refers to my brother-in-law, Chris, who just turned 30 this month. He thinks he is sooo old now. When Brandon, his older brother, turned 30 Chris thought it was old man time. Now he is 30, OMG. But I have to say I think 30's are much better than 20's. Hopefully he will think so too in a few years.

Chris and Amber at Keys on Main, a piano bar, after we had a family dinner b-day party. Unfortunately they did not play the exact song we requested (Boyz in Da Hood) and instead played some other request. I thought that song would have been funny in a piano bar. But then again, I am old.

The Holy War

Boo Boo BYU - Yeah Yeah Utah!!
(a little cheer we made up when I was about 4 years old)

The Holy War - or the Utah/BYU game - was an AWESOME game. The score was Utah 48 - BYU 24. I was on the sidelines for the game as part of the medical staff. I am so glad that I have been able to work with the Utah team during such a fun season.

Utah's football team is 12-0 (just in-case you have not heard) and undefeated for the second time in school history. They are going to be invited to a BCS bowl. Here are some pictures from the game.

Birthdays!!

We have had several birthdays recently. Kicking off B-day season was Michael McBride, then Brandon Matich, and now in November we have had Vivian McBride, Katie Jensen, and Grandma Matich. So I have to say - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Luckily Brandon's uncle, Brent, brought a camera to the football game this weekend and to Grandma Matich's birthday party. Here are some pictures.

Short-track Speed Skating

The first competition of the year for the short-track speed skating is this weekend at the Kearns Olympic Oval. The US and over 20 other countries will be competing on Fri, Sat, and Sunday for points toward the world cup. (I think that is how it works) Apolo Anton Ohno will be competing.

I watched practice today and it is a pretty cool sport. If you have time, you can buy tickets to watch the competition. It should be exciting. Bring the kids, it is motivating.

Random Updates

I have a very boring life and so I have no blog posts for over a month.

Here is a random update:

1. I'm really really stressed and pissy.

2. My new laptop was delivered today from Dell. Yah!! But then all my contacts in my cell phone mysteriously disappeared. Boo!!

3. Brandon's team is not very good which means weekends are not much fun.

4. I made a kick-ass peach cobbler on Sunday out of peaches from my neighbors peach tree (that hangs over into my yard).

5. Thanks to Emily, I read Twilight a few weeks ago.

6. There is a bad upper respiratory virus going around so wash your hands frequently.

7. Influenza vaccines will be available in the next few weeks so go see your physician and get one for you and your kids.

8. A strange white cat walked through our doggie-door and right past me while I was sitting at my desk today. It went straight to the closet with Oakley's food. I had to scare it back outside. Weird.

Football Game #2

Park City 14 vs Logan 38

Last night Park City lost the football game to Logan High School at Logan. Park City's team caught the flu bug and 3 kids were throwing up on sidelines (one was the starting quarterback and safety). We also had 2 kids with concussions. It was not fun to have so many kids feeling crummy and getting hurt. I hate looking at these kids who want to play but are clearly not healthy enough and telling them they can't play. I had to take a helmet away from a kid so he did not sneek back into the game.

Losing sucks. PKC will try to learn from mistakes and make changes to get better. We just need to be playing well by region and playoff time. Next up is Morgan High School and they just beat the pants off of Wasatch High School 49-0. It will be another tough game. There are already bad feelings between Morgan and PKC. (Brandon almost got into a fight with their coach a few yrs ago)

I think I may get my kids into music and yoga. This football stuff is for crazy people.

Namaste.

The Ita Twins Arrive

Laurie had a c-section this morning and the twins are safely out of the womb. The baby girl came first and the boy came second. She weighed 5 lb 10 oz and he weighed 6 lb 10 oz. Mom and the babies are doing well. Laurie and Terick invited me into the OR for the c-section. It was AWESOME to be in there, taking lots of pictures, while they were born. Laur and T will be such great parents. I'm so excited for them. Unfortunatly, all the pictures I took are on her camera.

Here are a few pictures I took with my phone. He looks so much like Terick. She is petite and dainty, and thank goodness, looks less like Terick.
